I had the absolute honor of voicing some national PSA's for the wonderful humanitarian relief organization Samaritan's Purse yesterday. They are always one of the first to respond to these and other types of crises. Having lived through the Northridge Quake in Los Angeles, which was approx. a 6.8 quake, I can only imagine what the people have gone through. In fact, it would not surprise me to see aftershocks well into the 7 range in the weeks ahead!
Thanks to Samaritan's Purse for allowing me to partner with them and a huge thanks to all the agencies who are doing their very best to respond to this and other great needs in our world!

"A Dear Friend Exposed"
Well, sort of. A long time friend and mentor in the voiceover world has been featured on Statesman.com. Hope you find the article interesting...especially about 3/4 of the way down where the paragraph begins with "He's been working for the Obama campaign..."
Thanks to Leif for allowing me to share this. You can visit his web site by clicking on the link to the left.

"Outside The Box is a Good Place to Think"
I wrote recently about how my daughters are starting to do voiceover when they can. What a great opportunity to see where their giftings are and what "comes natural" to them...I wish I had my mom or dad do that with me, don't you?
Well, I had a funny thing happen the other day (wait, this is not the first line of an impending joke). A production company that had hired my oldest daughter to be the imaging voice for a new internet station contacted me to see if she would be available to audition for a well known south east fast food chain (Bojangles). I saw the script and new immediately that it would be funny and something that she would be able to do. So we got her all "auditioned up" and sent the file. I went down and told my wife what was going on and she said "you don't want Samantha to audition too" (my youngest). I told her, well he only asked for Olivia, but maybe we should. I rounded her up and as soon as we started recording I started laughing because the way the script was written and the mental picture they are painting made it even MORE funny because she so young.
So, I sent off the file and in about an hour I get an email from the production company and it said "Oh Brian, I wish you would not have sent Samantha's audition...the client really likes what she did and the first take is the best"...I hope Olivia's heart won't be broken." Needless to say, Samantha got the job, but Olivia was able to pick up some money for providing some words such as "ooooooh and ahhhhhh".
Why do I tell you all this? Well, once again I was reminded to think outside the box (ie: client asked for Olivia, so I provided Olivia's audition only at first...then my wife hits me with an "out of the box" thought to toss in an audition from Samantha which ended up working better than expected). Thus the production company was thrilled and so are both my daughters; meanwhile daddy got to work with them!!
Outside the box is sometimes a good place to think!

Do You Need To Be Encouraged Today?
Though she is not known for voiceover, one of the most gifted voices I have ever heard is that of Natalie Grant. I was thinking about some things today and I wondered if perhaps you are going through some difficult times...if so, this is for you.

"TheRadio.com"
Well, much to my delight, my oldest daughter landed another voiceover job today (good thing she was on Spring Break). She did some imaging for a kid's channel called Kid Hits on TheRadio.com.
What a neat opportunity to continue to teach my girls and spend time with them as well...plus, they learn what it is like to work for a living and how to manage money! A TOTAL win-win-win-win..............
It has been KILLER SLOW for me over the past month (March), but things are picking up here in April....how about you? After two record breaking months in Jan-Feb, March bonked me right upside the head, whew!
Hope all is going well for you!
